Summer has finally begun in our side of the world. Last March 4-6, 2013, my friends and I went to Boracay. This small island by the way is located approximately 315 km (196 mi) south of Manila and 2 km off the northwest tip of Panay Island in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines. Boracay Island and its beaches have received awards from numerous travel publications and agencies. The island comprises the barangays of Manoc-Manoc, Balabag, and Yapak municipality of Malay, province of Aklan. The island is administered by the Philippine Tourism Authority and the provincial government of Aklan. Apart from its white sand beaches, Boracay is also famous for being one of the world’s top destination for relaxation. It is also emerging among the top destinations for tranquility and nightlife. In 2012, Boracay was awarded as the best island in the world from the international travel magazine Travel + Leisure.

Beach trip is not complete without hats. I first picked out the brown one.

But the blue one best suits my attire.

My first time in the island and I find it so lovely. The sand is pure, white and powdery. No wonder a lot of tourists visit here.

There are a lot of activities to choose from. You can go diving, kite surfing, parasailing, helmet diving, banana boat and a lot more. We chose parasailing, island hopping and helmet diving.

After these activities, you can go bar hopping at night, or simply feed your tummy and go shopping.

A must visit place in the Philippines. Best time to come here is summer of course (March – May).

Prism Hotel

Hi everyone. We are off to Hongkong in a few hours. That’s the reason why I have been silent lately… The trip was after Christmas plus I also had work on the 24th and 25th, so I was really busy. I miss checking out all your posts… And I miss sharing mine, too! We are currently here in Prism Hotel, Clark Pampanga which is a 2 hour drive from Manila. We chose to fly from Clark airport coz of price difference compared to Manila… However we are traveling with 3 kids plus our flight is too early so we decided to stay here overnight as it’s close to the airport. In the end, nakatipid ba kami? Haha… Lesson learned… Since we are traveling in a group of 9, we rented a suite composed of 3 rooms. I will post more pictures when I come back. I really can’t sleep that’s why I am blogging. 1 more hour and it’s time to leave the place… Hay, think I better rest my eyes. Have a great day everyone….

Circles II / Sunday Post: Concept (Yakimix)

yakimix 001

My second entry for this week’s Travel theme: Circles and Sunday Post: Concept.

Together with my high school friends (yes, we still often see each other), we had our Christmas and pre-birthday celebration at Yakimix, an eat-all-you-can Smokeless Grill, Korean and Japanese Restaurant. This place has a vast selection of maki/sushi, salad bar, meat/fish for grilling, soup, seafood and yummy desserts. They also have cooked dishes like pizza, noodles, etc. The CONCEPT of “smokeless grill” is such a hit. It is so much fun choosing and cooking your own food. I’m sure kids will not get bored plus since it is smokeless, you won’t feel like you came from a barbecue party.

Aside from the delectable dishes, the crystal centerpiece caught my attention which is perfect for Ailsa’s theme. So beautiful…

This is my first time to eat here and I’m so glad we chose this place. For P660.00 (with drinks during Sundays), it’s really worth it. What can I say, they have the most friendly and efficient staff, clean and neat restaurant, wide selection of food, I highly recommend this place! Perfect for anniversaries, birthday celebrations or when you feel like eating sumptuous meal. Make sure you have empty stomach when you come!

My advice is to make sure you had your reservation and come on time coz they can only hold it for 15 mins. (6pm-6:15pm). If not, the line is always long especially during weekends. You don’t want to end up in a wait-list, do you?

Travel theme: Circles (Enchanted Kingdom)

Let’s look for circles in ENCHANTED KINGDOM. But before you do, let me just share a bit of information about this word-class themed park.

Enchanted Kingdom opened its gate in October 19, 1995 located in San Lorenzo South, City of Santa Rosa Laguna. This is the Disneyland of the Philippines. I first visited in 1996 for my friend’s birthday and despedida (she went to Canada and up until now she haven’t visited yet 😦 ). My second when I was already working and the latest was last March of this year. The park has 16 rides located within 7 themed zones. They also have spectacular firework display before closing. This is also a perfect venue for birthdays, weddings, debuts and other events. For first timers, you can not bring food inside but don’t worry they have a lot of food outlets you can choose from. I have witnessed a tremendous growth as they have opened lots of rides and added shows year after year. There are actually rides that I did not dare try such as Ekstreme drop and most especially Space Shuttle. Sorry, I don’t have the guts. Anyway, this should be one of your to go list if you visit our country.

I don’t have pictures of their extreme rides so please do check out their website here.

Okay, let’s start searching for magical circles around the park.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Changing Seasons

How I wish we also have the 4 seasons; spring, summer, winter and fall. Here in the Philippines, we only have dry (November to April) and rainy season (May to October). Have you heard of the recent storm that hit Mindanao last week? So heartbreaking… Even if it is supposed to be “dry”, our brothers in Mindanao were badly hit. See the effect of climate change? We should take care of our environment and do our share, even in simplest ways.

Back to the theme.. Since it is December, you will find the change in season not with the work of nature but with creative human mind and hands with Christmas spirit. I love how the houses and malls were decorated for this season. Say for example, the Christmas tree below, the theme is for children. So, the tree is surrounded by kids in different faces.

NEW1 012

The whole mall is surrounded with hot air balloon and kids around. I must say, they chose the right theme. Christmas is really for the kids, right? This is located by the way in Shangrila Mandaluyong.

Now, this one here is the cutest of all. Who doesn’t love Mickey Mouse? The kids are crazy over this character. Megamall is in partnership with Hongkong Disneyland to promote tourism. I am getting more excited for our upcoming trip this Dec 27th. See my count down at the right side below?

I have already shared the this gigantic tree in Araneta. This is what I always see going and coming home from work.

But ofcourse, nothing is more special than our very own Christmas tree at home. It is just simple, my mom bought the slim type. I can’t imagine if we have the big one with three active kids around. Hahaha.

How many days to go and it’s almost Christmas. Don’t forget the real meaning of it, Birth of our Saviour, Jesus Christ! Have a great weekend.

Travel theme: Liquid (Manila Ocean Park)

My take for Travel theme: Liquid.

I was thinking of something to share here aside from our glorious beaches, lakes, rivers, etc. Something like an indoor type. Browsing through my albums in FB, I came across our trip to Manila Ocean Park when my brother and his family went home for their annual visit in April 2010. I think that’s the perfect example of what I have exactly in mind.

Manila Ocean Park is Philippines’ first state-of-the-art Oceanarium, open water marine habitat, boutique mall, restaurant row and function facilities. There are actually a lot more activities/attractions today and we are planning to visit in December. Aside from oceanarium, fish spa, dancing jellies and musical fountain show, they have added sea lion show, Aquanaut voyage, glass bottom boat ride and penguin talk show. I am actually fascinated with penguins,  I’d love to see and interact with them. So happy that they have added this in the park.

How cute my daughter.. She was only 4 years old here.

My nephew and sister-in-law

I had a short hair and I was not that big compared now…  🙂

with Malou, also my sis-in-law

Fish Spa…

The last attraction… Musical fountain show…
